Telecel Foundation offers free health screening at Fetu Afahye

The Telecel Ghana Foundation provided free health screenings to Abura residents as part of this year's Fetu Afahye celebrations in the Central Region. This outreach was organized under the Connected Health pillar of the Foundation and was conducted in collaboration with healthcare professionals from Cape Coast Metropolitan Hospital and the Divine Mother and Child Foundation (DMAC).

During the event, residents received screenings for various conditions including malaria, hepatitis B, typhoid, HIV, and blood glucose levels. Rita Agyeiwaa Rockson, the Telecel Ghana Foundation's Sustainability and External Communications Manager, emphasized that community events like Fetu Afahye offer an opportunity to bring healthcare services directly to the people.

The goal was to screen and educate as many community members as possible, promoting preventive healthcare and early detection of diseases. Dr Bernard Bedu Boamah, a Medical Officer at Cape Coast Metropolitan Hospital, commended the Foundation for the initiative, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to access free healthcare services and encouraging residents to prioritize their health.

Godwin Ampofoh, a 20-year-old beneficiary, shared his appreciation for the medical team and the Foundation, stating that his busy schedule and financial constraints often made it challenging for him to access healthcare. The HealthFest initiative is part of the Telecel Ghana Foundation's Connected Health pillar, aimed at improving access to quality healthcare and promoting preventive health practices across Ghana.

Through such community-based outreaches, the Foundation continues to bring basic medical services closer to residents, thereby reducing barriers to healthcare and promoting healthier, more resilient communities.
