Spotify finally lets parents exclude kids’ music from Wrapped and recommendations

After years of complaints from parents, Spotify has finally taken action to address the issue of their children's music impacting the end-of-year Wrapped experience and personalized playlists. The company has introduced a new toggle feature that allows parents to exclude kids' music from their taste profile, effectively removing tracks from animated movies, theme songs from family TV shows, nursery rhymes, and other kid-oriented music from affecting Spotify's recommendations.

This update is now rolling out globally on mobile devices for both Free and Premium users. By default, the toggle will include kids' music in the taste profile, but users can switch it off to ensure that these tracks no longer influence Discover Weekly, Daily Mix, or the year-end Wrapped review. The feature automatically excludes kids' music from the taste profile when enabled, providing a more personalized experience for parents and their children.

Although the company previously offered users the ability to exclude specific tracks or playlists, the new toggle provides a more streamlined and automatic solution. Spotify also recently introduced Managed Accounts for listeners under 13, offering parental controls to help discover age-appropriate music.
