Shreetron India Limited To Establish Smart Classes, ₹ 300 Crore Approved, Schools To Be Developed In A Phased Manner

Lucknow: In a significant move to bolster digital education in government primary schools of Uttar Pradesh, the Yogi government has designated Shreetron India Limited as the executing agency to transform 14,429 primary schools into Smart Schools, with a budget of Rs. 300 crore approved. The state aims to establish smart classes in these schools in a phased manner, expanding digital facilities in Basic Education.

Presently, smart class facilities exist in over 32,000 schools, ICT labs in more than 15,000 schools, and digital libraries in 1,129 schools. Additionally, more than 2 lakh 61 thousand teachers have been provided with tablets. Since 2021, the government has initiated smart classes in Uttar Pradesh primary schools, with formal operations beginning in the 2022-23 academic session.

This new decision will further enhance the existing system. The Smart Schools will be developed by establishing smart classes in the selected primary schools, with the tender process to determine the exact number of schools that can be developed within the approved budget. The tender rate is set at Rs. 2,07,910 per school, including sanitation charges and GST.

Three Automated Testing Centers will also be set up in each district, featuring machines to check vehicle fitness. Smart classes and ICT labs will be implemented in council schools based on student numbers and enrolment, with the Digital Initiative Program promoting their establishment in government upper primary schools. This initiative aims to enable children to benefit from modern technology alongside traditional teaching methods, making learning more effective and engaging.

By developing primary schools as Smart Schools, the government prioritizes providing children across Uttar Pradesh with better, modern, and technology-based education, ensuring they keep pace with evolving technology.
