Seu Bock rallies men singles shuttlers ahead of Asian Games

Kuala Lumpur: Coach Tey Seu Bock remains optimistic about his men's singles shuttlers' performance at the upcoming Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, set to take place from September 19 to October 4. The squad comprises world No. 31 Leong Jun Hao, Justin Hoh (world No. 45), Eogene Ewe (world No. 82), and Kong Wei Xiang (world No. 242). The team has faced challenges in recent months, with Jun Hao, Malaysia's No. 1 player, among them.

Seu Bock has focused on technical, tactical, and mental preparation to help the players handle the pressure of a major event like the Asiad. He is confident in their current form and readiness. Malaysia's men's team event begins on September 20, while the individual competition starts on September 25. The country's last gold medal at the Asian Games was achieved by Datuk Punch Gunalan in 1970, and their best performance in recent times was a silver medal by Datuk Seri Lee Chong Wei in 2010, where he narrowly lost to Lin Dan of China.

In the individual event, Jun Hao and Justin will compete from September 25-29, facing off against top contenders like Thailand's world No. 3 Kunlavut Vitidsarn and China's world No. 6 Shi Yu Qi at the Ichinomiya City Municipal Gymnasium in Ichinomiya City.
