Responsible hunting requires updated legislation

On Tuesday, September 15, at 11:00, an event will take place at the press center of Interfax-Ukraine news agency to discuss the importance of updated legislation for responsible hunting. The event will feature a panel discussion involving experts in game management, veterans rehabilitation through hunting, job creation for veterans, and international best practices in wildlife conservation.

Adrian Prokopenko, Chairman of the Public Union Ukrainian Council for Game and Wildlife Conservation, will be among the speakers, along with Ruslan Kozyr - owner of a hunting estate and wild animal rehabilitation center, and Mykhailo Krupenya - a military veteran and lawyer specializing in game management. Additionally, Andriy Smyk, another military veteran and assistant to the Regional Military Administration head for veteran business development, will participate.

The event will also include a presentation by Anastasiia Matviienko, a scientist and doctoral student at Prague University of Natural Sciences, and Oleksandr Mezinov, a junior researcher at the NSC Institute of Experimental and Clinical Veterinary Medicine.

The panel will address common misconceptions surrounding the legislation, as well as explore the prospects for the development of the hunting industry in Ukraine. International experiences in game management will also be shared, providing valuable insights into successful strategies for conservation and resource management. The event aims to highlight the potential of veterans rehabilitation through hunting, job creation for veterans, and the restoration of wild animal populations, all of which are crucial for ensuring biological and food security. Furthermore, the protection of the rights of local hunters will be a key focus of the discussion.
