Rescued Assin Fosu man admits involvement in MoMo fraud, denies role in deal that led to kidnap – Police

Bismark Amoh, a 30-year-old man rescued from kidnappers, has confessed during questioning to his past involvement in mobile money fraud, but denies his participation in the specific operation that led to his abduction. Central North Police Commander DCOP Abraham Acquaye revealed this on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem following the arrest of four individuals linked to the incident.

According to Acquaye, the young man's behavior and answers during questioning prompted investigators to his admission. "He admitted to prior involvement in MoMo fraud but insisted that it was his friend who used his phone for the latest deal that triggered the kidnapping," Acquaye stated. Police anticipate that the man, having confessed to earlier offenses, will cooperate by aiding the investigation in locating the person they believe to be responsible.

"Once he has admitted, we would expect that he would lead us to the person behind it because he who alleges must prove," Acquaye emphasized. Reports suggest that a teacher, Mavis Badu, lost GH¢44,800 from her bank and mobile money accounts. In a bid to recover the money, a friend of the victim pretended to develop romantic feelings for the suspect and lured him to Kumasi for a meeting.

Acquaye further stated that as the inquiry progresses, the man will be charged and prepared for court.
