Renault, Geely to invest €319 million in Brazil, expand partnership

Paris, September 15 - Automotive manufacturers Renault and Geely announced on Tuesday a combined €319 million investment in Brazil, as part of their ongoing industrial partnership in the country's largest market. This move aims to counter the growing influence of Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD, which has been gaining traction with its affordable electric and plug-in hybrid models.

Renault disclosed last fall that it had entered into a deal with Geely in Brazil. The new investment brings the total amount invested by both companies in Brazil for the period 2025-2027 to €899 million.

Under the terms of the agreement, Geely will gain access to an existing plant and dealership network, while Renault will make more efficient use of the capacity at its assembly plant. The French automaker plans to expand its portfolio by adding larger models to its lineup. Renault further revealed that its Hybrid E-Tech 4x4 flex-fuel technology will begin production in Brazil in 2027 as part of its updated investment plan.
