Qatar stresses support for dialogue and diplomacy to solve Hormuz crisis

Doha, Qatar - Qatar's Deputy Director of Media and Communication, Ibrahim bin Sultan Al Hashmi, has underscored the nation's commitment to fostering dialogue and diplomacy as a means to resolve the ongoing crisis at the Strait of Hormuz. In a recent media briefing, Al Hashmi emphasized the significance of achieving a comprehensive agreement that promotes lasting peace in the region, highlighting the importance of freedom of navigation for all nations.

The State of Qatar is actively collaborating with both regional and international partners to facilitate consensus on a resolution to this issue, Al Hashmi stressed. He reiterated that any attempts to close maritime and waterways should not be viewed as an ordinary matter or an acceptable solution by Qatar or the global community. He further warned that disrupting navigation in both the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab Al Mandab Strait would have devastating consequences for the world.

Al Hashmi affirmed Qatar's dedication to advancing dialogue and diplomacy to achieve a peaceful resolution. He reiterated that while the task may be challenging, the only ultimate solution lies in negotiations. Qatar remains steadfast in its efforts to find a viable resolution, with the crisis affecting the entire world and prompting continuous search for a possible solution.

The Qatari delegation will participate in discussions at the UN General Assembly, with the crisis being a top agenda item during the meetings. Regarding the attacks on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Al Hashmi affirmed Qatar's solidarity with Saudi Arabia in safeguarding its security and territorial integrity.
