Doha, Qatar - The Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) will commence its 2026 Patient Safety Campaign from September 17-23, coinciding with Qatar Patient Safety Week and World Patient Safety Day, celebrated annually on September 17. This year's focus is "Safe Care for Noncommunicable Diseases," emphasizing the significance of safe and ongoing care for individuals dealing with long-term health conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, cancer, chronic respiratory diseases and others.
Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Ali, Executive Director of Quality, Patient Safety and Innovation at PHCC, stressed that patient safety is a top priority for the Corporation. She highlighted that improving care for noncommunicable diseases demands a collaborative effort between patients and healthcare providers, supported by ongoing dedication to quality and safety protocols throughout the patient's journey.
Nawal Khattabi, Director of Risk Management, Patient Safety and Patient Engagement at PHCC, explained that the campaign aims to increase awareness about prevention, early detection, regular follow-ups and adherence to treatment plans. It also seeks to empower patients to actively participate in their own healthcare safety, thereby reducing risks, enhancing health outcomes and improving quality of life.
PHCC health centers will host a range of activities and events throughout the campaign, including informational booths for patients and visitors, workshops and training sessions for healthcare professionals, along with educational and digital resources distributed via PHCC's social media channels.
