Ondo: Police, Amotekun apprehend three suspected kidnappers, rescue two victims

In Isua-Akoko, the headquarters of Akoko South-East Local Government Area in Ondo State, the police have rescued two victims of abduction and apprehended three suspected kidnappers. The suspects are Abdullahi Abubakar, Ibrahim Abubakar, and Oseni Abubakar, all males from the Akunnu area. The Police Public Relations Officer, Abayomi Jimoh, revealed that the police received intelligence about a gang of suspected kidnappers hiding in the forest along the Ifira–Idoani axis.

The police, along with Amotekun Corps and Agbe-Koya, formed part of the rescue operation. At around 11:30 p.m., the armed kidnappers, numbering about four, emerged from the forest. Upon sighting the security operatives, they opened fire, prompting the security team to repel the attack and rescue the victims, identified as Mr Owolabi Patrick and Asoto Dada.

The security operatives recovered ₦1,500,000 suspected to have been used for ransom. The victims positively identified the arrested suspects. A Bajaj motorcycle, earlier recovered by the police, is now in police custody as part of the ongoing investigation.
