NYSC: Batch C orientation course to kick off Sept 30

The Universiti Malaya (UM) will commence its 121st anniversary celebrations on September 19, symbolizing the growth and development of an institution that has evolved alongside Malaysia's history. The theme, "121 Years of Excellence, Weaving the Future (UM121)," signifies more than just a commemoration; it's a platform to connect UM's legacy with its future ambitions in education, research, innovation, and community development.

UM's Vice-Chancellor, Prof Datuk Seri Dr Noor Azuan Abu Osman, announced that the official launch would be overseen by UM Chancellor and Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah. A distinctive feature of the launch is the Royal Brisk Walk, a first-time event involving over 2,000 members of the UM community, symbolizing UM's growth in tandem with the nation for more than a century.

Dr Noor Azuan emphasized that UM121 is about looking beyond the past, appreciating the journey that has shaped the university, and envisioning the crucial role UM needs to play for Malaysia and the world. The 121-year legacy provides a robust foundation to continue building a university that dares to explore, create knowledge, and impact society.

UM121 will span various programs until December, focusing on alumni engagement, academic and intellectual pursuits, historical and heritage exhibitions, community activities, and initiatives highlighting UM's contributions to the nation.
