Nate Diaz still sees trilogy with 'f*cker' Conor McGregor happening

More than a decade after their first encounters, Nate Diaz remains resolute in his desire to complete a trilogy with Conor McGregor. The two fighters met twice in 2016, with Diaz pulling off an upset submission victory in the first bout at UFC 196, but losing the rematch by majority decision at UFC 202. Following McGregor's injury in July 2021 and his subsequent departure from the UFC, Diaz was initially hesitant to welcome the "Notorious" back to the Octagon.

However, his stance has since softened, as he recently told MMA Junkie at a Ki MMA launch event. Despite acknowledging Conor's fighting spirit, Diaz emphasized that he is not seeking to end McGregor's comeback but rather to secure a high-profile matchup to advance his own career. Diaz expressed empathy towards McGregor, hoping the Irishman has a successful return and intends to deliver a strong performance before ultimately defeating his opponent.

Currently, Diaz is open to competing in Ki MMA, which was founded by Scott Coker, while remaining focused on landing quality fights. McGregor has only one more bout left on his UFC contract, which might pave the way for a trilogy fight with Diaz, who parted ways amicably with the UFC in 2022.
