Mumbai Metro Line 9 Phase 2 Integration Trials Begin; Lines 2A, 7 And 9 Services Start At 6.30 AM

Mumbai's Metro Line 9 Phase 2 project has entered a crucial pre-commissioning stage. Signalling and integration trials began on Tuesday, September 15, to connect three additional stations with the existing Metro network. To accommodate the trials, the Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Limited (MMMOCL) initiated a special morning non-revenue block from September 15 to 25. Consequently, passenger services on Metro Lines 2A, 7, and Line 9 Phase 1 commenced at 6.30 am during this period.

This temporary change in the schedule is necessary for the successful integration of Line 9 Phase 2 with operational Lines 2A, 7, and Phase 1. The signalling software required for speed trials on Line 9 Phase 2 is ready, and technical teams are utilizing the special block to perform software migration, testing, and validation through the Operations Control Centre (OCC) at Charkop Depot. The controlled non-revenue window ensures that tests are conducted safely and in line with operational protocols.

The morning block has been scheduled to minimize the impact on regular passenger services while allowing technical teams to complete the critical tests uninterrupted. The revised schedule will remain in effect until September 25. Commuters on Lines 2A, 7, and Line 9 Phase 1 are advised to account for the later 6.30 am start while planning their journeys.

With the completion of signalling integration and speed trials, the way is clear for the next stage of Metro Line 9 Phase 2 commissioning.
