The accident happened around 5 pm when the BEST bus number 7640 was turning right near the signal under the flyover, according to reports. A private car with registration number MH-47-BP-6483 allegedly struck the right rear side of the bus, causing it to collide with a Metro pillar.
Two individuals suffered head injuries and were transported to Trauma Care Hospital in Jogeshwari East for treatment. Rajendra Muralidhar Sonawane, a 58-year-old employee of the BEST Engineering Department, and passenger Mangesh Ramchandra Modalekar, 57, were among the injured. Sonawane required three stitches for his head injury, while Modalekar sustained six stitches to his head and chin.
Following the incident, Mateshwari Accident Inspector Kulkarni and BEST Accident Special Inspector Nawale ensured the injured were taken to the hospital as per instructions from Vanrai Police. The bus involved in the accident was subsequently taken to Vanrai Police Station with the help of a BEST towing vehicle.
