Mohammad Rizwan Questions NCCIA Over Seized Mobile Phone and Disciplinary Inquiry

Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan has written to the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) questioning the reasons behind his summons and the delay in returning his mobile phone. Rizwan requested clarification regarding the alleged disciplinary violation he claims he committed and asked the agency to explain the purpose of his appearance.

He expressed his desire to know the reason for the NCCIA's summons. Rizwan and teammate Imam-ul-Haq are under investigation by the NCCIA for alleged dressing-room leaks during Pakistan's ongoing Test series against England. The investigation involves data retrieved from their mobile phones. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had taken custody of the players' phones and handed them over to the relevant authorities.

This development follows Pakistan's heavy defeats in the first two Tests against England. In response to the defeat at Lord’s, the PCB released seven players and two coaches from the squad, including Rizwan, Imam-ul-Haq, Salman Ali Agha, Ali Usman, Aamer Jamal, Owais Zafar, and Khurram Shahzad. Head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed and bowling coach Umar Gul were also dismissed from their duties.

Earlier this month, the PCB sought a written explanation from a member of its selection committee regarding Rizwan's and Imam-ul-Haq's inclusion in the Test squads for the 2026 tours of the West Indies and England. The committee member had participated in a selection meeting on June 2 and was responsible for considering players for the two tours.

According to a PCB notice issued on August 31, Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq were shortlisted for selection based on the committee member's recommendation.
