Minnesota Wild reward coach John Hynes with a multi-year contract extension entering his 4th season

Minnesota Wild announced a multi-year contract extension for head coach John Hynes on Tuesday. Hynes guided the team to their first playoff series win in 11 seasons after finishing third in the Western Conference. He enters his fourth season with the Wild and 12th overall as an NHL coach. Hynes boasts a 125-78-24 record over three seasons since taking the helm in November 2023.

The Minnesota team's 104 points this season marked their third-highest total in franchise history. They also set a new single-season record with a 25.2 power-play percentage, leading the league 29-0-0 when holding a two-period lead. Hynes' coaching career with the Wild, Nashville Predators, and New Jersey Devils boasts 409 wins and 829 games coached, ranking fourth in NHL history for American-born coaches.
