Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirms that Qatar is pushing for dialogue and diplomacy to resolve the Strait of Hormuz crisis

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar has confirmed the nation's commitment to diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving the ongoing crisis at the Strait of Hormuz. Director of the Media and Communication Department, Ibrahim bin Sultan Al-Hashmi, stated that Qatar supports all diplomatic means to ensure freedom of maritime navigation and highlighted the importance of reaching a comprehensive agreement for sustainable peace in the region.

Al-Hashimi emphasized that the priority is to achieve consensus among all parties involved in order to resolve the crisis. He stressed that the freedom of navigation at the Strait of Hormuz is crucial for all countries globally, and affirmed that Qatar is tirelessly working with regional and international partners to reach a consensus and advance dialogue towards a comprehensive solution.

The director affirmed that closing maritime and waterway passages is unacceptable, both to Qatar and the international community. He warned that disrupting navigation in both the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait would lead to catastrophic consequences worldwide. Al-Hashmi reiterated that Qatar is advancing dialogue and diplomacy to seek a peaceful resolution to such conflicts, emphasizing that the matter is not difficult or impossible, and that negotiations are the only solution.

He added that ongoing efforts will continue, as the crisis affects the entire world, and it is not possible to pause efforts in seeking a resolution. A Qatari delegation will participate in the United Nations General Assembly, with discussions on this crisis being a top priority during the meetings. Regarding attacks on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Al-Hashmi affirmed Qatar's solidarity with the Kingdom in all measures it takes to maintain security and the safety of its territories.
