Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Previews 2026 CLA 200 Hybrid, Electric GLC 300 4MATIC

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has recently showcased two upcoming vehicles for the local market: the hybrid CLA 200 and the electric GLC 300. The CLA 200 hybrid, set to be locally assembled in Pekan, Pahang, shares its platform with the recently launched CLA 250+ EV. However, Mercedes-Benz has not announced a specific launch date or pricing for the models.

The hybrid CLA 200 boasts a fuel consumption of around five litres per 100km, owing to its hybrid drivetrain. When driven at gentle speeds, the 22kW electric motor can power the car independently, allowing for a feature dubbed "electric sailing" or "efficient coasting with a decoupled drivetrain." The car can still accelerate to 100 km/h in eight seconds, thanks to its 120 kW/250 Nm 1.5-liter engine paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The CLA 200 reaches a top speed of 232 km/h and is equipped with 19-inch AMG 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels. Additional features include multibeam LED headlights, an AMG Line Sports Seat Package, ARTICO leather upholstery, and a multifunction sports steering wheel with nappa leather. The infotainment system offers over 40 apps and video streaming with direct access to Disney Plus.

The electric GLC 300 4MATIC is another previewed model, with a powerful 310 kW output and 800 Nm torque. Its 85 kWh battery provides a WLTP range of up to 616km, and the DC charging rate allows for a 10-80% charge in just 22 minutes. The GLC 300 is available in two variants, the Avantgarde and AMG Line Plus, differing mainly in wheel size and interior trims.

The Avantgarde features 20-inch light-alloy wheels and a brown open-pore fineline birch wood trim, while the AMG Line Plus comes with 21-inch wheels and "black / silver metallic mixed-fabric trim."
