Marizanne Kapp Siblings: Meet Lee Zaan Seaman and Zania Nortje

Marizanne Kapp, a celebrated South African international cricketer, is recognized for her exceptional skills as an all-rounder. Born on January 4, 1990, in Port Elizabeth, she is affectionately known as Kappie and has been a key member of the South Africa national team since her debut in 2009. Married to fellow cricketer Dane van Niekerk since 2018, Kapp comes from a family with a strong emphasis on fitness; her father, Pieter Kapp, is a businessman, while her mother, Nereda Lamprecht, is a supportive figure.

Kapp has two sisters, Lee Zaan Seaman and Zania Nortje, both of whom were raised in a nurturing environment that fostered a love for physical activity and sports. The family's commitment to fitness was evident from an early age; daily routines included swimming, running, and sprinting. However, Zania's life took an unexpected turn when she sustained serious injuries in an accident, which required her to be hospitalized in intensive care. This prompted Marizanne to return to South Africa to support her family during a crucial period.

Kapp's international career has been marked by significant achievements. She made her Women's One Day International (ODI) debut against Australia in 2009 and later played her first Twenty20 International (T20I) debut against the same opponent. Her Test debut followed in November 2014. Over the years, she has become a cornerstone of the South African team, known for her contributions with both bat and ball in the middle order and her medium-pace bowling.

Kapp has participated in numerous ICC Women’s Cricket World Cups, T20 World Cups, and ODIs, leading South Africa to consecutive finals in the T20 World Cup in 2023 and 2024, and reaching the ODI World Cup final in 2025.

Domestically, she has represented multiple teams such as Eastern Province, Sydney Sixers, Perth Scorchers, Melbourne Stars, Oval Invincibles, and Delhi Capitals. Notable achievements include scoring a maiden Test century of 150 against England in 2022 and taking the first-ever wicket in The Hundred competition. Despite considering retirement around 2024, Kapp continued to play at a high level well into her mid-thirties.

Her accolades include becoming the first South African woman to take a hat-trick in a T20I, scoring an unbeaten century in the Women’s World Cup, and being named in the ICC Women’s ODI Team of the Year. She has also received the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award in June 2022 and Player of the Match honors in various high-profile finals.
