Spotify has introduced a new feature that will allow parents and guardians to exclude their children's music from being included in their own personalized music recommendations. This update comes as a welcome addition for those who want to keep their family's musical tastes separate. Starting today, a toggle in the app's settings can be activated to prevent kids and family music from influencing your taste profile.

This encompasses songs from your kids' favorite animated films, theme tunes from family TV shows, nursery rhymes, and other forms of children's music. Turning this setting off won't stop you from searching, listening to, or creating playlists of kids and family music, but it will ensure that these streams won't factor into Spotify's recommendations for you.

Consequently, features like Discover Weekly, Daily Mix, and Wrapped will be more accurately aligned with your personal taste. Moreover, the new setting is retroactive, meaning any kids music you've already listened to won't be factored into your Wrapped top song or artist, for instance. Here are the steps to turn off this feature in the Spotify app on both iOS and Android devices: Go to Settings and privacy by tapping your profile picture located in the top-left corner.

Select Content and display. Next, switch off the toggle next to Include kids and family music in taste profile. Spotify indicates that it may take up to 48 hours for these changes to impact your personalized recommendations.
