Leeds United defeat Newcastle 4-1 to go third in Premier League

Leeds United secured a commanding 4-1 victory over Newcastle United on Monday, propelling themselves to third place in the Premier League. A swift 14-minute opening period laid the groundwork for Leeds' triumph as an own goal by Lewis Miley, followed by goals from Jayden Bogle and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, put Daniel Farke's team in a commanding position.

Noah Okafor added a fourth goal after halftime to further solidify Leeds' dominance. The match resulted in Leeds amassing eight points, placing them four points behind league leaders Arsenal. Leeds took the lead in remarkable fashion in the 32nd minute when Ao Tanaka's shot deflected off Sean Steur and Miley before bouncing over goalkeeper Lukas Hornicek.

The home side extended their lead less than three minutes later, with Bogle credited with the goal after Calvert-Lewin's header apparently struck the defender before finding the net. Calvert-Lewin further extended his impressive record against Newcastle by netting himself deep into first-half stoppage time, calmly firing past Hornicek to become the club's eighth career scorer against the visitors.

Newcastle's struggle continued after the interval as Okafor completed the scoring with a neat finish, making it 4-0 and effectively ending Newcastle's chances of adding to their tally. Although substitute Bazoumana Toure scored a late consolation for Newcastle in the 90th minute, it paled in comparison to the resounding victory for Leeds.
