Lawyer Haniff Khatri says decades of legal notes and 28 years of memories lost in Country Homes house fire

In a devastating fire that broke out around 3am, prominent lawyer Mohamed Haniff Khatri Abdulla lost three decades of handwritten journals, irreplaceable legal notes, and cherished family memories in his Bandar Country Homes residence. The flames completely consumed the upper floor, destroying beds, clothing, appliances, and personal archives accumulated over 30 years of legal practice, according to NST.

Among the charred remains, Hamzah Khatri, Haniff's son, salvaged a handheld gaming console and hoped his university graduation photos could be salvaged as well. Tragically, two recently adopted kittens were believed to have perished in his sister's room when the fire erupted. Haniff had resided in the home with his family since 1998, raising his children for 28 years.

When the fire broke out while Haniff was watching a football match downstairs, his daughter discovered the flames first and screamed for help. Haniff, already burning from inhaling smoke, managed to scale the stairs but was forced back by the intense heat and fumes. Firefighters arrived within 10 minutes to control the blaze and treated Haniff for a minor burn.

Despite the near-total loss of their possessions, the family prioritized safety over material items, with Hamzah expressing gratitude for everyone being unharmed. Haniff emphasized that as Muslims, they must embrace spiritual acceptance.
