Irene Montero's newfound brilliance, since her move to Europe, serves as a testament to the existence of the middle class. This observation is significant because the new left once argued, driven by their distaste for PSOE terminology, that such a class did not exist - a neoliberal ploy to divide workers. I have long maintained that a person is no more a worker than a factory worker is, and despite this belief, I find it difficult to deny that even a modest increase in wages - say an additional €1,000 - can dramatically alter a family's prospects and happiness.

It is not to be mistaken that any factory in the Basque Country provides better pay and quality of life than a multinational store owned by Amancio Ortega. The problem lies in equalizing all salaries, when in the poorest neighborhoods of major cities, the minimum wage often falls short of the minimum subsistence level. Women, who rarely buy high-end Inditex clothing or branded cosmetics, turn modest supermarket savings into unexpected sources of wealth.

I do not intend to delve into the domestic economics of a bold policy that supports everything I believe in - gender equality, wealth redistribution, progressive taxation, pacifism, and public services - and to which I have admired the feminist resilience demonstrated in a male-dominated parliament, advocating for the concept of consent, which once scandalized many before gaining recognition in Brussels and earning praise for her bravery in leaving a well-paying position. I only trust that once elected, salaries for everyone will be increased.
