Harry and Meghan move schools over security concerns

Prince Harry and Meghan have transferred their children to a different school due to security worries, a spokesperson announced. This step came shortly after the family settled back in the UK to commence anew. The choice for the youngsters to switch schools emerged from a conversation with the family's security personnel regarding the practicalities of their present situation, according to the spokesperson's statement on Tuesday.

Prince Archie, aged seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, had just begun the new school term in England following the family's move from California in late August. Speculation from British media suggested the length of the school commute and the dense traffic en route as factors of concern for the couple and their security team. The family currently resides at a private dwelling, not associated with the royal family, in an area outside London.

It is crucial to understand that this move doesn't imply any judgment on the school or the superior care the children have received there, the statement clarified. The news came in the wake of reports indicating that Harry and Meghan are awaiting a fresh risk evaluation from the government committee tasked with evaluating the protection of VIPs, including a verdict on whether the family should be granted publicly subsidized security now that they reside in the UK.

After relinquishing their royal responsibilities and relocating to California over six years ago, citing a desire to make a living independently, Harry and Meghan later entered lucrative deals with Netflix and Spotify. Despite strained relationships with the remaining members of the royal family since then, Harry has recently expressed a willingness to reconcile to spend more time with his father, King Charles III.

Harry has been actively engaged in a prolonged dispute with Britain's government over the restoration of publicly funded police protection, which was terminated when the couple abandoned their royal roles. He had previously expressed his inability to envision a scenario where he would bring his wife and children back to the UK without a security assurance.

Earlier this month, the king reaffirmed that Harry and Meghan are non-working members of the royal family and will continue to refrain from employing formal royal titles, such as his royal highness and her royal highness, as they have abstained from doing since 2020. The couple indicated their surprise at the monarch's issuance of this statement, as they were given minimal time to review it.
