Hamzah tak dijemput ke PAU, isyarat pakatan Melayu tertumpu Umno-PAS, kata penganalisis

Hamzah Zainudin failed to attend the recent Umno Agong Conference despite being part of the Barisan Nasional (BN) leadership bloc that won the PRN elections in Negeri Sembilan. His absence sparked speculation that the Malay coalition, known as Pakatan Melayu, may only involve PAS, according to analyst Ahmad Zaharuddin Sani Ahmad Sabri.

At the weekend's conference, several senior PAS figures attended, including Idris Ahmad, Takiyuddin Hassan, Ahmad Fadhli Shaari, and Mohd Syahir Che Sulaiman, all received invitations from Umno, while Hamzah did not. The increasing collaboration between Umno and PRN, including Wawasan, also involving Wawasan, has led analysts to note that Umno seems to prioritize direct relations with PAS over cooperation with PN.

This shift in dynamics may indicate that Umno and PAS have a history of working together through the National Accord, while Wawasan, born from Bersatu, has a different political background. Former Umno leader Hamzah Zainudin left the party in December 2018 after BN's defeat in the 2014 general election and joined Bersatu in February 2019 before becoming a prominent figure in PN and later appointed as the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) leader.

Analysts suggest that the development in Negeri Sembilan and Johor could indicate changing relations between Umno and PAS, but a clear formula for political unity between BN and PN has not yet been established as discussions on power-sharing are ongoing. Wawasan and Hamzah's presence, however, carry different connotations, with Wawasan and Hamzah having a more complicated history with Umno.
