Government approves draft 2027 State Budget, submits it to Verkhovna Rada — Koretskyi

The Ukrainian government has approved the draft 2027 State Budget and submitted it to the Verkhovna Rada, according to Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi's Telegram post. The draft budget allocates significant funds to military and defense needs, with UAH 4 trillion 885 billion specifically allocated to defense, which accounts for nearly 44% of the country's GDP. The government emphasizes that this is almost double the amount provided this year.

Koretskyi highlights the importance of receiving material and technical assistance from partners, including weapons, equipment, ammunition, and strike capabilities, which could amount to at least UAH 1 trillion. However, he notes that the needs of the Defense Forces for 2027 are significantly higher due to the escalating cost of the war.

The government is working to finalize precise calculations and identify funding sources to cover these needs, acknowledging that Ukraine can only cover part of its expenditures with its own revenues.

The budget also increases funding for education to UAH 328.5 billion and healthcare to UAH 292.5 billion, both higher than the previous year. Social programs, support for veterans and internally displaced persons, and housing are also receiving increased allocations. Additional resources will be directed towards regions and municipalities for reconstruction, development, and improving the quality of life.

The budget prioritizes helping the economy cope with the intensified Russian attacks, with UAH 96 billion allocated for business support programs, nearly double the amount from the previous year. This includes affordable lending, grants, and support for defense innovations, along with separate funding for war-risk insurance. The draft budget is currently in the Verkhovna Rada for review, and Koretskyi expresses readiness for a constructive dialogue with lawmakers and counts on their support.
