Google rolling out Android 17 QPR1 for Pixel

Google has begun rolling out Android 17 QPR1 to Pixel devices. Following a lengthy beta phase, the latest update is now available for the September 2026 Feature Drop and security patch. The update introduces several interface changes, including more blur effects throughout the system UI. Users on the Pixel 6, 6a, Pro, 7, 7a, 7 Pro, Tablet, Fold, 8, 8 Pro, 8a, 9, 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL, 9 Pro Fold, 9a, 10, 10 Pro, 10 Pro XL, 10 Pro Fold, 10a, 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro XL, and 11 Pro Fold will notice a Dynamic Color-themed translucency in the volume panel and full bottom sheet.

The Power menu has been revamped, featuring a background blur, alongside a refreshed background panel and a new background blur. When multiple apps are open, the system media player now employs a carousel-based Material 3 interface, displaying previews of other open applications in place of the traditional dots at the bottom. Quick Settings now features a bouncy animation and a new "Keyboard" icon in the bottom-right corner for system switching.

The Screen recording tool defaults to the last-used application, and long-pressing on home screen apps has been updated to include app shortcuts and system actions like Bubble and Widgets. A fast wallpaper switcher with pronounced corner rounding is now available when tapping on an empty home screen spot. Android 17 QPR1 is already available for download in the Settings System System update section, where users should click the "Check for update" button if it has not appeared on their device yet.

Android 17 QPR1 Beta 9 users will receive a minor update for the final release. The Android Beta Program remains open, continuing to test QPRs and feature drops. Users already on the Android 17 QPR1 Beta must opt out before receiving the stable version. Devices will not be wiped by the stable OTA once it becomes widely available.
