Ganesh Chaturthi 2026: Sonu Sood On His Love For Bappa, Celebrations Since 26 Years, Favourite Pandal & More- FPJ Exclusive

Sonu Sood, the pan-India star, has been celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi in Mumbai for the past 26 years. In an exclusive conversation with The Free Press Journal, he shared his love for Bappa and his favorite pandal. When asked about his first Ganesh Chaturthi celebration, Sonu explained that he brought Bappa home from Andheri station on his bike, initially purchasing a small idol which was later replaced with a bigger one after consulting his wife.

He spent the night decorating the idol with thermocols and chart papers. Sonu loves all the pandals in Mumbai and appreciates the enthusiasm of the organizers and people who work hard towards it every year.

Over the years, Sonu has introduced practices that bring his family together. He emphasizes the importance of spending quality time with loved ones during the festival, praying together, and eating together. Sonu considers Bappa to be a guiding force, helping him achieve his goals and believe in his abilities. When discussing his family bonding, he revealed that he still wears his sons' festival outfits, which are the same size, and that they often try each other's clothing.

His wife, he adds, puts effort into coordinating the theme and color of the festival every year. This year, the color theme is white, symbolizing purity, and Sonu believes that living a pure life brings happiness. Lastly, Sonu shared that he invites media personnel to his home during Ganesh Chaturthi, treating them as part of his family and encouraging them to join in prayers and blessings.
