French team Lens fires coach Dino Toppmöller after just 6 games in charge

French football club Lens dismissed manager Dino Toppmöller after only six games under his leadership, citing irreconcilable differences with the German coach. The team, currently sitting in 10th place in Ligue 1, announced that Yannick Cahuzac will assume interim managerial duties for their upcoming match against Monaco. Lens informed Toppmöller that they intended to restructure the squad and coaching staff, which led to his termination along with that of his two assistants.

Toppmöller, who agreed to a two-year contract in June, accepted a significant portion of his severance pay. The 45-year-old had previously coached Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga, where he aimed to implement an attacking style of play. However, Lens experienced a decline in form following his arrival, losing two league games and drawing one, despite a notable 3-2 Champions League victory over Sparta Prague.

Toppmöller's brief tenure at Frankfurt ended in January due to a challenging period, but he had previously led the team to the Champions League following a strong third-place finish in the Bundesliga during the 2024-25 season.
