Every Persona Game and Spin-Off in Order

There are currently 21 Persona games and spin-offs in total. Several of these are expanded versions of the mainline entries, such as re-releases or remakes. At no point are direct ports or remasters included, but every alternate version will be noted when listed below.

The chronological order of the series, which contains mild spoilers for each game, is as follows:

1. Revelations: Persona (1996) - The first game in the series, Revelations: Persona was Atlus' reaction to the positive reception of Shin Megami Tensei: If... . It introduced the concept of high schoolers battling a supernatural uprising using their awakened Personas.

2. Persona 2: Innocent Sin (1999) - A new set of high school students led by protagonist Tatsuya Suou are tasked with stopping the villain Joker and the cult of the Masked Circle. It focuses on exploring dungeons, wielding Personas, fighting shadows and leveling up the party.

3. Persona 2: Eternal Punishment (2000) - A direct continuation of Innocent Sin, Eternal Punishment follows Maya Amano as she unravels a mysterious phenomenon known as the Joker Curse.

4. Persona 3 (2006) / Persona 3 FES (2007) / Persona 3 Portable (2009) / Persona 3 Reload (2024) - The third mainline entry in the franchise, Persona 3 introduced a daily calendar system, with half of the game spent attending school and the other half focusing on fighting shadows in Tartarus. Persona 3 is considered a landmark entry for the series, introducing social links and day-to-day activities.

Alternate Versions of Persona 3:

- Persona 3 FES includes additional content such as new social links, costumes, and weapons.

- Persona 3 Portable is a port of Persona 3 FES for the PlayStation Portable (PSP).

- Persona 3 Reload is an updated version of Persona 3, featuring improved graphics and gameplay mechanics.

Each game in the series tells an entirely new story with original characters that are largely disconnected from its predecessors. Therefore, newcomers can start with any of the mainline entries without missing any essential story points.
