Emmy Awards ratings down nearly 10% from last year

Ratings for the Emmy Awards dipped nearly 10% compared to last year, according to data from NBC. The 78th primetime Emmy Awards drew a total of 6.7 million viewers, marking a decline after a couple of years of growth. The event, hosted by "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" star Mariska Hargitay, saw "Widow’s Bay" from Apple TV set a record by winning 14 Emmys for a comedy. "The Pitt" claimed the best drama award for the second consecutive year.

The Emmys telecast reached an estimated 6.87 million viewers on ABC, 7.42 million on CBS, and a low of 4.3 million on Fox in January 2024, following strikes involving Hollywood writers and actors. The telecast rotates among the four major broadcast networks each year.
