Ed Sheeran addressed the removal of Macklemore from his current arena tour, stating it was a decision made by the promoter, not himself. The singer expressed his disappointment with Macklemore's support for Palestine, describing it as a "fundamental disconnect" between the two artists. Sheeran chose to continue with an apolitical show to provide a safe space for his young audience, avoiding heated political debates.

Despite this, Sheeran acknowledged Macklemore's courage in standing up for his beliefs. The controversy surrounding Sheeran's stance on this issue has already drawn criticism, including from children's entertainer Ms. Rachel, who accused him of kicking a supporter of Palestine off the tour for speaking out during a genocide. Following Sheeran's statement, other members of his touring group, including Finneas, Lukas Graham, and Aaron Rowe, have also withdrawn from the remaining shows. Additionally, Beoga, Sheeran's backing band, has decided to leave the tour as well.
