Ecopetrol names Alfonso Barco acting CEO effective today

Bogota, Colombia - Ecopetrol S.A., Colombia's largest company and a key player in the energy sector, has appointed Alfonso Camilo Barco Muñoz as Acting Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately, according to a press release. The announcement came during a Board of Directors meeting on Sunday, following the retirement of Juan Carlos Hurtado Parra.

Barco Muñoz, who has over 35 years of experience in both public and private sectors, including expertise in investment banking, corporate finance, and corporate governance, will take over the role from Hurtado Parra, who most recently served as Acting Chief Executive Officer and Executive Vice President of Hydrocarbons. Ecopetrol, responsible for over 60% of Colombia's hydrocarbon production, also holds a significant stake in ISA's shares and is involved in transportation, logistics, refining systems, petrochemicals, and gas distribution.
