Do not take advantage of or underestimate UMNO, says Najib’s daughter

Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s challenge to any party seeking to dissolve Parliament or move a no-confidence motion against the Unity Government was driven by a responsibility to uphold UMNO's dignity and champion grassroots voices, according to Nooryana Najwa Najib, UMNO Puteri Information Chief. She emphasized the importance of mutual respect, honesty, fairness, and trust in political cooperation.

Nooykynah Najwa warned against underestimating UMNO's commitment to stability, urging parties not to take advantage of or underestimate the party's dedication. Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil had previously cautioned Barisan Nasional leaders—particularly UMNO—to avoid acting emotionally and prioritize national interests. Ahmad Zahid, BN Chairman, had previously challenged Pakatan Harapan to remove the coalition from the Unity Government, stating that the Federal Government would collapse without BN.

He suggested two options for PH: securing a fresh mandate through a general election or formally removing BN through a no-confidence motion and dissolution of Parliament. This challenge was delivered during the 2026 UMNO General Assembly at the World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur.
