Dan Levy, Annie Murphy, and Macaulay Culkin give moving tribute to Catherine OHara at Emmys

This year's Emmy In Memoriam segment featured a heartfelt tribute to late actress Catherine O'Hara, who passed away in January. The ceremony, presented by Macaulay Culkin, Annie Murphy, and Dan Levy, began with the Home Alone and Schitt's Creek stars honoring O'Hara, who always appeared when they asked her to. Culkin expressed his appreciation, saying, "She always showed up when I asked her to, because that was Catherine.

That's what she did. She showed up, and this is the best that we can do for her tonight. We're showing up for her."

Levy added, "The greatest lesson I learned from Catherine, both professionally and personally, was to always say yes." He encouraged remembering her instincts, even if they seemed radical or unusual, and supporting her in building a TV character over the age of 60 that would wear leather miniskirts and eight-inch heels while speaking in a unique accent. Levy also appreciated O'Hara's willingness to experiment, such as naming and wearing a wig as a hat.

The tribute continued with the performance of Simon & Garfunkel's "Bridge Over Troubled Water" by Noah Kahan, a song covered by the late Dolly Parton. The Emmys paid tribute to other late icons, including music legend James Van Der Beek, actor Tim Curry, fashion designer Bob Mackie, actor Robert Duvall, and many others. To conclude the segment, Jamie Lee Curtis paid tribute to directors James Burrows and Rob Reiner, praising Reiner's generosity, kindness, and humor.
