College Student Shot At, Stabbed Outside Exam Hall After Rejecting Marriage Proposal In MP’s Sendhwa

In Sendhwa, Madhya Pradesh, a college student was shot at and stabbed outside the examination hall at Veerbhanu Khajya Nayak Government Postgraduate College on Tuesday. The attacker, identified as Ganesh Thakur, first fired a shot from a homemade pistol which missed its target before attacking the student with a knife, causing injury to her back.

The incident occurred as the student exited the examination hall after completing her test. Ganesh Thakur, a first-year BSc student at the same college, was apprehended by students and bystanders who handed him over to the police. The injured student was transported to the government hospital via Dial 112 and is currently receiving treatment there.

During questioning, the accused confessed to his motive of wanting to marry the student, but she had already accepted a fixed marriage elsewhere. The rejection reportedly angered him, leading to the attack. Some students and the victim’s cousin claimed that the gun discharged unintentionally, while the police stated that the accused had fired a shot before proceeding with the stabbing. A case has been registered under attempt to murder and further investigation is ongoing.
