CM’s office denies Rauf signed dissolution order

(Image from Bernama) In Petaling Jaya, the chief minister’s office refuted a circulating WhatsApp message alleging that chief minister Ab Rauf Yusoh endorsed the dissolution of the state legislative assembly today. Media communications head Norhafizah Sati confirmed the message as false, urging the public and media not to accept unverified information.

"I have not been informed of any meeting today between the chief minister and the Yang Dipertua Negeri of Melaka," she stated. "Any statement will be promptly communicated by the chief minister’s office." The circulating message claimed that Rauf had signed the dissolution document alongside Yang Dipertua Negeri Ali Rustam this morning.

Barisan Nasional, under Rauf's leadership, had formed the state government after winning 21 out of the 28 seats in the 2021 state election. Pakatan Harapan secured five seats, while Perikatan Nasional claimed two. The Melaka state assembly’s term extends until December unless dissolved earlier. Elections must take place within 60 days of dissolution.
