BJP should bring UCC through Parliament, not backdoor: Omar Abdullah

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed satisfaction with the BRICS New Delhi Declaration's inclusion of the Pahalgam terror attack, crediting it to the Indian government's foreign policy. "That is something for the Government of India, and particularly for the foreign ministry, to talk about," he told ANI. Emphasizing the importance of the declaration, Abdullah pointed out that the condemnation of Pahalgam was a significant milestone, especially considering the presence of many Pakistan allies in the room.

In April 2025, a terrorist attack in Pahalgam claimed the lives of 26 civilians. The BRICS countries, in the New Delhi Declaration, strongly condemned this terrorist act, aligning terrorism with "criminal and unjustifiable" behavior. The joint statement reaffirmed the bloc's commitment to combating terrorism in all its forms, including cross-border terrorism, financing, and safe havens.
