Barcelona’s Camp Nou beats Wembley to host 2029 Champions League final. Munich confirmed for 2028

Barcelona's rebuilt Camp Nou stadium has been selected over London's Wembley Stadium to host the 2029 UEFA Champions League final, according to UEFA's executive committee announcement on Tuesday. The decision places Barcelona in the spotlight just one year before Spain co-hosts the 2030 FIFA World Cup alongside Portugal and Morocco.

The upcoming final will pit Real Madrid's recently renovated Santiago Bernabéu stadium against the brand new Casablanca stadium. The 2028 final will return to Bayern Munich's home ground, which was the sole contender after three years since the 2025 edition. The Camp Nou stadium, set for a major rebuild with its upper tier and roof still under construction, last hosted the Champions League final in 1999 when Manchester United's late goals stunned Bayern.

Wembley Stadium has been the site of three finals since then — in 2011, 2013, and 2024 — and a total of eight times since the European Cup's inception 71 years ago. This season's final will take place at Atletico Madrid's Metropolitano stadium.
