Bali CCTV probed after Australian, two kids found dead

CCTV footage and police investigations are underway following the suspected double-murder suicide of an Australian man and his two children in Bali, Indonesia. The victims identified as Damien John Shaw, 56, Archie, 6, and Laura, 4, were found dead at a bungalow near Kuta, a popular resort town on the island's southwest coast. Shaw's wife, who was away at the time, had reportedly called a neighbor at around 8:30 am on Sunday, requesting assistance as she could not reach her husband and children.

Upon entering the residence, the neighbor discovered the three bodies inside the home. Local forensic doctor Dr Henky presented the external medical examinations on Tuesday, suggesting the children died due to violence while Shaw took his own life. The Indonesian marriage certificate of Shaw and his wife was also shown during the media briefing.

Denpasar Police Chief Leonardo D. Simatupang stated that investigators are processing the crime scene, examining CCTV footage, and interviewing witnesses and contacts, including Shaw's wife, to determine the cause of death. Western Australian Premier Roger Cook expressed his condolences, emphasizing that the situation was deeply sad and that investigations were ongoing.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is providing assistance to the family. Shaw's LinkedIn page indicates that he had previously worked in the maritime industry and was actively seeking employment. Lifeline, beyondblue, and 1800 RESPECT are listed as support organizations for those affected by the tragedy.
