‘APC govs are politically lazy’ – Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has harshly criticized All Progressives Congress (APC) governors, labeling them as "politically lazy." This assessment came after the APC governors vehemently opposed Wike's Rainbow Coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections. Speaking on Arise Television’s Prime Time, Wike clarified that his support for President Bola Tinubu did not equate to abandoning his political party or endorsing rival parties' candidacies.

The APC governors, led by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, firmly stated their refusal to join, endorse, or support any alliance that could jeopardize Tinubu's re-election or impact APC candidates at any level.

Reacting to the opposition, Wike expressed his frustration, stating that the APC governors were "politically lazy." He argued that using President Tinubu as an excuse for local issues was unsatisfactory. Wike emphasized that his political disagreements predate his endorsement of Tinubu, as he had faced resistance during his tenure as both governor of Rivers State and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.

"This thing did not start today. It started at a ministerial position. They were not happy that I was Minister of FCT. Also, they were unhappy when I was governor," Wike recalled.

Wike further posited that his understanding of the political landscape surpasses that of his critics, suggesting that they would appreciate his stance if they had access to the information he possesses.
