Anwar defends moderate approach on Umno ties, says govt stability must come first

KERALAM, September 15 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has opted for a measured approach in addressing differing opinions on the matter of collaboration with Umno within the Unity Government. As Pakatan Harapan (PH) Chairman, Anwar emphasized that maintaining government stability is paramount, stating that overzealous actions concerning this issue could prove detrimental to the nation.

"I have chosen a moderate path because the stability of our government is crucial; otherwise, there will be significant losses for our country," Anwar shared during a press conference with Malaysian media in Calicut, following his working visit to India. He further explained that while diverse viewpoints exist among political parties, including PH, such matters are common within a coalition and should not be perceived as threatening government cooperation.

Anwar clarified that he listens to all perspectives, and based on his knowledge, he does not perceive any significant issues. He likened such disputes to minor household conflicts, which are expected even between political leaders. Anwar made these remarks while commenting on questions related to various issues raised at the 2026 Umno General Assembly (PAU).
