All the Times 2 or More Single of the Year Nominees at the CMA Awards Were Top 10 Hot 100 Hits: Full List

The 60th annual CMA Awards have seen three of the five single of the year nominees make it to the top five on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100. This marks the first time since 1975 that this has occurred. The nominees for single of the year this year are Ella Langley's "Choosin' Texas," which has held the No. 1 spot on the Hot 100 for a record 22 weeks; Taylor Swift's "I Knew It, I Knew You," spending two weeks on top in June; Langley's "Be Her," holding the No. 2 position in May; Cody Johnson's "The Fall," peaking at No. 26 in April; and Lainey Wilson's "Somewhere Over Laredo," topping out at No. 36 in December 2025.

In 1975, a remarkable four out of the single of the year nominees reached No. 1, with Glen Campbell's "Rhinestone Cowboy" spending two weeks on top, B.J. Thomas' "(Hey Won’t You Play) Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song," Freddy Fender's "Before the Teardrops Falls," and John Denver's "Thank God I’m a Country Boy" each topping the chart for one week. The lowest-charting nominee that year was Jessi Colter's "I’m Not Lisa," peaking at No. 4.

Country crossover hits on the Hot 100 have fluctuated over the years. In 1985, just a decade after the peak of country crossover, none of the CMA single of the year nominees made it to the Hot 100, with the Judds' "Why Not Me" winning the award that year instead. This was part of a long dry spell, with only one single of the year nominee cracking the Hot 100 in the seven years between 1985 and 1991, Dan Seals' "Bop," peaking at No. 42.

Streaming has significantly improved country music's performance on the Hot 100 in recent years.
