‘AI 시대’ 일본 알바 시급도 양극화…최저임금보다 2천원 더 준다

In Japan, part-time job wages have soared far above the minimum wage, according to a recent report. The surge in wages is primarily driven by companies seeking to secure staff, particularly for roles that AI cannot replace. The Japan Newspaper Nihon Keizai Shimbun cited a job search platform called 'Deep' (DIP) in their report. According to the data, the average part-time wage in Japan last month was 1350 yen (11,800 yen), marking a 17 yen (1.3%) increase compared to the same period last year.

Currently, the nationwide average minimum wage per hour is 1121 yen (9800 yen), but the actual amount presented by companies seeking workers is significantly higher, often exceeding 20% more. Tokyo's Keiyo region topped the list with an average wage of 1421 yen (12,430 yen), followed by Kansai at 1334 yen (11,660 yen), and Kansai-Gion at 1326 yen (11,600 yen). The nationwide average part-time wage has seen 11 consecutive months of year-over-year growth.

Deep, the job search platform, compiled the average wage based on 39,660 job postings on their 'Baito Ru' (Part-time Employment) platform. In Korea, a survey conducted by the job search site 'Alba Kingdom' in July found that the average actual wage for those with part-time work experience was 1,1233 yen, which is about 8.8% higher than the legal minimum wage of 1,320 yen.

In terms of industries, construction jobs saw the highest wage increase, rising from 179 yen to 1570 yen (15.70%), followed by transportation, cleaning, and packaging at 165 yen to 1402 yen (14.02%), and manufacturing and functional jobs at 127 yen to 1451 yen (14.51%). In contrast, wages for professional and educational sectors remained higher, with 1593 yen and 1577 yen respectively, but saw a decrease of 188 yen and 122 yen from the previous year.

Even the salary for administrative jobs declined by 77 yen from the previous year. Nihon Keizai Shimbun concluded that roles susceptible to AI substitution are experiencing relatively slower wage improvements.
