Ahmed Al Sharaa: Syria has transformed from a major problem into a great opportunity

Syria is being hailed as a "great opportunity" by President Ahmad Al Shara, who made the remarks during a speech at the Arab Media Summit in Dubai. The President emphasized that the nation's strategic transformation from a source of conflict and instability to a potential trade route and supplier of energy has caught the attention of the international community.

Al Shara pointed out that the Strait of Hormuz's blockade has spurred the search for alternative trade routes in the Middle East, with Syria playing a pivotal role in these discussions. His country has been actively working on linking its Mediterranean ports with Gulf states through Iraq, with talks even focusing on connecting Syrian ports to the UAE's Jebel Ali port, as hinted at by the Emirati group's early interest in the port of Tartus.

Syria's agricultural potential has also come under the spotlight, with the President claiming the nation could feed up to 100 million people with proper agricultural tools, despite its current population of only 25 million. Furthermore, the lifting of US sanctions has been seen as a significant development, as Syria heralds a new era of growth and stability.
