8 hours, 10kg of gold: How masked thief pulled off audacious jewellery shop heist

A masked thief broke into a jewellery shop in Mathura, northern India, through its roof and remained inside for nearly eight hours before escaping with more than 10 kilograms of gold and around Rs1.4 million in cash. The robbery occurred around 9:30 pm on Sunday, and the thief vanished at approximately 5:30 am the following morning.

Initial estimates place the stolen jewellery at over 10kg, valued at approximately Rs140 million. Police have launched a major investigation, examining CCTV footage from the shop and surrounding areas to trace the suspect's movements. Investigators suspect the thief may have had prior knowledge of the premises, possibly from a former employee. The burglary also prompted local traders to shut down the market out of concern for security.
