2027: North Will Not Betray Tinubu’s Loyalty Towards Region, Says Campaign DG, Yari

In an address to the Iga-Iduganran Palace of Oba of Lagos, His Royal Majesty Rilwanu Akiolu, APC Presidential Campaign Council Director-General, Senator AbdulAziz Yari, affirmed the north's commitment to backing President Bola Tinubu for a second term in the 2027 presidential election. Yari, who hails from Zamfara State, emphasized that the north would not betray Tinubu's loyalty towards the region following the president's pivotal role in securing Nigeria's full presidential term from 2015 to 2023.

Former Zamfara Governor and APC stalwart, Yari, recounted Tinubu's resistance to pressure from political factions in 2019, which prevented him from contesting the presidential election against President Muhammadu Buhari. He stressed that Tinubu not only allowed Buhari to complete his term but also extended his support, vowing that as long as Buhari asked Nigerians to vote for him, he would remain by his side.

Yari underscored the northern region's resolve to repay Tinubu for his support, affirming that there would be no vacancy in Aso Rock in 2027, with Tinubu set to secure re-election. He called for an issue-based campaign, urging Nigerians to embrace honesty, hard work, unity, and sincerity of purpose, while urging the avoidance of political enmity.
