2027 elections: AAC demands EFCC oversight of Oyo government expenditure

The African Action Congress (AAC) in Oyo State has requested the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to oversee the spending of state funds prior to the 2027 general elections. This petition was submitted on September 9, 2026, by the party's legal representatives, Damilare Adenola and Co Law Practice, to the EFCC's Ibadan Zonal Office.

In their letter to the Zonal Director of the EFCC in Ibadan, AAC emphasized their concern over the spending patterns of the Oyo State Government during the election period. Kayode Babayomi, the AAC's Oyo State Chairman, stated that the party has a legitimate interest in ensuring transparency and accountability in the management of public resources, especially as the 2027 elections approach.

The AAC argued that monitoring government expenditure before, during, and after elections is vital to prevent the misuse of public funds for political gain. They stressed that safeguarding public resources during the election cycle is crucial to maintaining accountability and upholding the integrity of the democratic process. As of the latest update, the EFCC had not provided a response to this petition.
