2027: Barau urges aggrieved APC aspirants to work for party’s victory

Senator Jibrin Barau, the Deputy President of the Senate, has called on All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates who lost out in the 2027 primary elections to unite and support the party's cause in the upcoming general elections. During the inauguration of the Kano North Senatorial District Campaign Council, Barau emphasized the importance of party unity and urged both successful and unsuccessful candidates to work together towards the common goal of securing victory for the party.

The inauguration was attended by prominent APC leaders and members of the campaign council from the Kano North Senatorial District. Barau's Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, revealed the details of the event to journalists in Abuja. Barau stressed that the primary elections are behind them and that all party members remain part of the same political family.

He reminded the victorious candidates of the importance of supporting their defeated colleagues, stating, "You can see that many of those who contested the primaries but did not secure the tickets are here today. They understand that the party belongs to all of us, and that the victory of the party is ultimately their own victory."

The primary contests have been intense, and Barau expressed concern over the potential for divisions within the party, which could hinder its chances of success in the general elections. He also encouraged the campaign council to mobilize support across all 13 local government areas of the Kano North Senatorial District, focusing on President Bola Tinubu, Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, and other APC candidates.

Barau highlighted the inclusive nature of the campaign structure, designed to involve stakeholders at various levels of the party. The council, chaired by Rabiu Bichi, a former Secretary to the Kano State Government, will work to mobilize voters for all APC candidates, from the presidential election to state-level polls. Bichi praised Barau's contributions to Kano State and assured him that the council members will collaborate to secure the highest possible number of votes for the party in Kano North and beyond.
