2013-Batch IAS Officer Divya Mittal Resigns From UP Cadre, Centre Accepts Decision

Lucknow: The Indian government has accepted the resignation of Divya Mittal, a 2013 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, who tendered her resignation on August 30, citing personal reasons, family priorities, and new life goals. Mittal confirmed the acceptance of her resignation via a post on X platform on Monday evening. She accompanied her announcement with a quote from poet Jaishankar Prasad's play Chandragupta: "The path of virtue lies ahead. Keep moving forward."

Mittal's civil services journey spanned nearly 13 years, with around 17 years of service still ahead of her. Prior to her appointment in the IAS, Mittal had worked in London, after completing a Bachelor of Technology from IIT Delhi and a Master of Business Administration from IIM Bangalore. She left her lucrative corporate career abroad to return to India and prepare for the civil services examination.

Mittal cleared the UPSC examination twice in two consecutive attempts. Her first attempt resulted in her selection for the Indian Police Service, but she appeared for the examination again the following year and secured selection for the IAS. Mittal's husband, Gagandeep Singh, is also a civil servant. He is a 2011-batch Indian Trade Service officer who resigned from government service in 2022 and later founded a company called Neurocap, which engages in trading activities within India and abroad.
